Avoca Search has been exclusively retained by Mason Health, an independent health system and Public Hospital District, to recruit the inaugural Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). This is an exciting opportunity for a human resources leader to join one of the highest rated rural hospital districts in Washington State.
Located in Shelton, Washington, Mason Health has been serving the patients and community of Mason County for over fifty years. The health system is supported by more than 100 physicians in 19 specialties with 740 employees and 100 volunteers. The Public Hospital District is comprised of The Mason Clinic, Mason General Hospital, and the Hoodsport Family Clinic. Mason General Hospital is a licensed and accredited, level four trauma center that is supported by a trauma designated emergency department.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CHRO will work in collaboration with all c-suite team members and Mason Health and leadership team to create, implement and drive a positive, cohesive team culture that supports the organizational vision to provide the best patient-centered care in the Pacific Northwest. The CHRO will be instrumental in helping Mason Health strategically advance as a top healthcare institution while promoting initiatives around employee engagement, succession planning, and relationship building across the organization. Leading a team of 7 human resource professionals and support staff, the CHRO will oversee all functions related to compensation, benefits, labor and employee relations, HRIS, and work alongside the Chief Medical Officer to help shape and influence human resources functions in the employed physician group. The CHRO will be a reliable resource and subject matter expert for all policy, compliance, benefits administration, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and human capital projects.

Candidates will demonstrate a proven track record in Organizational Development while leading a team to drive culture and positioning the organization for continued growth and success. The ideal candidate will exhibit an executive presence and bring experience working alongside c-suite team members and a board of directors to drive human resources functions. A minimum of five years leadership experience is required, as is a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree is highly preferred, as is, human resources certification in SPHR, GPHR, SRHM-SCP or equivalent.
