Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Librarian (Hospital),Medical Library part time, 22.5hrs per week with benefits.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for providing references and information services in response to the information needs of the organization's library users via online resources and in-person reference help. Catalogs all online resources ensuring that the library's database is current, accessible, and available to library users when required.
Determines information needs of the organization's staff and students by establishing relationships with residency and student program coordinators and clinical departments as well as by creating, conducting, and analyzing user surveys.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Catalogs all online resources in order to make them findable by library users.
Maintains library's procedure manual, writes new entries, and edits existing procedures.
Provides group library orientation and instruction on database searching, EndNote, and other library-related applications necessary to the organization's library patrons. Trains library users to effectively search the library catalogue, Internet, and other electronic resources.
Determines the feasibility of implementing emerging technologies, new resources, and additional services to aid library users in finding and utilizing information.
Provides extended, professional references services and library instruction to individuals and departments as necessary.
Creates and maintains online information portals in clinical specialties and additional online guides that would be helpful to library users.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify, you must have a Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS), required. Familiarity with library trends and issues, required. Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, customer service, organization, detail orientation, multitasking, and project management skills, required. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office and database searching applications (i. e. PubMed, CINAHL), required.
Preferred Qualifications: Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP). 1 - 2 years medical or academic library experience. Working knowledge of computer applications and database searching (i.e. EndNote, SirsiDynix, Camtasia, LibGuides, Photoshop, Acrobat).
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
