Description
The Labor Relations Director & Senior Counsel serves as the principal labor relations leader for two Tenet affiliated businesses, Conifer Health Solutions and United Surgical Partners International (USPI) and also assists in driving labor relations strategy for Tenet affiliated hospitals. While the primary responsibilities will be related to union awareness, this role will work closely with senior human resources and operations leadership to advise on a broad range of labor relations matters, including collective bargaining, the interpretation and administration of collective bargaining agreements, and compliance with labor laws. This role reports to the Vice President of Labor Relations of the organization and will be a key leader in the Labor Relations Center of Excellence.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Create, develop, and drive union awareness strategy for Conifer, USPI and Tenet affiliated, non-union hospitals
- Manage union organizing campaigns
- Advise and counsel hospitals, market, and corporate office on labor relations matters
- Manage collective bargaining negotiations and contract compliance at multiple facilities
- Support unionized locations in all aspects of the grievance/arbitration process, including handling arbitrations or managing outside counsel in arbitrations, as appropriate.
- Manage preparation for, and the response to strikes and picketing, as well as other work actions by labor unions
- Up to 50% travel (We will run a MVR on the final candidate.)
Qualifications:Qualifications
- Bachelor�s degree and JD required
- 7-10 years of related experience at a company with union represented employees, preferably in acute healthcare
- Experience developing union awareness strategy and conducting training
- Experience with union campaigns
- Experience with union negotiations
- Experience managing grievance arbitration process
- Extensive experience with and knowledge of labor and employment laws and labor relations
- Experience managing outside counsel and consultants
- Possess research, analytical, organization, and computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Ability to work independently as well as having strong interpersonal, organization, written and communication skills
