Details Posted: February 9, 2021 Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota Show Map Salary: Open Discipline: Operations Overview The Senior Business Consultant is within the Revenue Management Team. The Revenue Management Team, as part of Finance, is responsible for the management of payer contracting between all of Fairview and our Commercial and Governmental payers. Senior Business Consultant will be customer service orientated and have strong data mining, analytical, facilitation, project management and communication skills. A Senior Business Consultant may have specific industry knowledge and experience. This position will report to the Manager of Contracting. The Senior Business Consultant is responsible for developing statistical and financial reporting and analysis based on both internal and external data sources designed to help evaluate Fairviews performance on all shared savings and risk contracting. The Senior Business Consultant extracts and validates data from various information sources while identifying key information and documenting recommendations to assist management in sound business decisions. The primary area of responsibility for this particular Senior Consultant position is to help gauge the financial impact of Fairviews drive toward an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) on the System. The position will support Fairviews understanding of risk based contracting performance and help to evaluate alternative models that could be used for risk based contracting. The position will require a high level of technical skills and will need to coordination with other corporate and operations based finance groups including hospital and clinic operations, finance, IT and operational leadership. This interaction will be key to identify direct operational metrics, trends and cost/utilization leading indicators used for creating modeling that directly correlates and helps predict our financial performance and forecasts for these contracts. Expertise in these areas will become increasingly important across all aspects of Fairview as alternate reimbursement models begin to replace traditional reimbursement. Financial due diligence will be essential as non-volume based reimbursement takes on a larger role in our business. The Senior Business Consultant has the opportunity to become associated with the ACO project within Fairview as the system undergoes dramatic changes in how it provides and is compensated for care. Responsibilities/Job Description Planning Issue identification Data Analysis Synthesis of research Development of recommendations Lead engagement forecast Lead Analytic staff, if assigned Facilitate the work of staff from other infrastructure and operational areas working on the project, if assigned Provide senior level business analysis Develop complex business models Prepare industry analysis Prepare financial analysis Complete operational analysis Analyze complex risk contracts Reconcile extracts and validate data from various information sources and provide relevant information and recommendations to assist management in sound business decisions Data and definitions from various sources Build and maintain good working relationships with staff from infrastructure and operational areas, staff from various outside partners, including payors, vendors and consultants Manage/supervise flow of information and working relationship with Senior Leadership, payors, vendors and consultants Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served Qualifications Required Education: BA in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field Experience: Experience is required in the areas of capital budgeting and reporting, financial analysis, IRR / NPV / EVA analysis, participating on and leading cross-functional teams, and implementing process improvements. If candidate has an advanced degree (i.e. MBA), 5 plus years business experience is required. If candidate has a bachelors degree, 7 plus years of business experience is required. Preferred Education: MBA License/Certification/Registration: CPA, CMA Experience Ten years in hospital, payor or other health care organization Six sigma experience desired.
