Additional Key Elements/ Responsibilities: Analyze and prepare budgetary data for department budget, including rate projections and personnel salary/wage data. maintaining confidentiality of data using applicable Financial Management budget guidelines Research, analyze, prepare, and reconcile data for department budget; identify and research variances; create unique and often complex reports; make projections and recommendations; develop cost comparisons with previous budgets. using applicable Financial Management budget guidelines using generally accepted accounting principles Design, develop, and implement financial/budget reporting systems, including financial forecasting; prepare regular and special accounting and financial reports for department needs. using a broad knowledge of Vanderbilt systems, accounting practices and organizational business units using creative problem solving skills Perform internal budget auditing function for department; recommend procedural changes; review data periodically to analyze trends affecting budget/accounting needs. using generally accepted accounting principles by maintaining regular communication with intra-departmental administrative teams to promote consistency in accounting practices Advise supervisor regarding budgetary matters; resolve routine budget issues concerning personnel, utilization of facilities, equipment, and funds; supervise clerical staff as required. using excellent communication skills using creative problem solving skills Create and maintain systems for inventory control of equipment; monitor the purchase of material, services, equipment, and utilization of facilities and personnel. completed accurately and timely using Vanderbilt equipment inventory guidelines Review the preparation of contracts; write and update internal procedures and controls for outside vendor contracts; supervise support staff in this function. using excellent written communication skills using a broad understanding of Vanderbilt's overall contracting procedures Serve as liaison with other departments to provide budget and cost accounting information. using excellent oral communications skills promoting consistency in accounting standards and reporting BUDGET/ACCOUNTING ANALYST Invoicing Responsible for ensuring accuracy and timeliness on submitting invoices to sponsors, ensuring that we hit monthly invoicing goals set for the fiscal year. Monthly invoicing reporting to Post-Award manager of invoicing actuals to goal. Ownership of any sponsor escalations that require budget analyst/manager attention. Report to manager any variances to monthly invoicing goals. Provide monthly report to Accounting Manager showing details on current month invoices include total dollar amount. Work with billing compliance team to ensure accuracy of final invoice. Respond and communicate with sponsors for any invoicing inquiries on submitted invoices - answering questions or providing backup documentation through problem solving. External system ownership for submitting invoices through various sponsor portals, requiring strict attention to detail. Collaborate with CTSR team in review of routine departmental processes and procedures to identify inefficiencies and areas of improvement.
