The bi-lingual Clinical Pastoral Education Certified Educator, Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) serves throughout CHRISTUS Health by conducting units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), in English and Spanish, in the interest of educating and preparing persons to serve in spiritual care. In these CHRISTUS Regions: CHRISTUS ARK-LA-TX, CHRISTUS Continuing Care, CHRISTUS Gulf Coast, CHRISTUS Muguerza and related Latin American ministries, CHRISTUS Schumpert, CHRISTUS SETX, CHRISTUS St. Vincent, CHRISTUS St. Francis Cabrini, and CHRISTUS St. Patrick, this position is responsible for providing leadership in planning, developing, implementing, directing and evaluating Clinical Pastoral Education programs and resources to integrate and enhance Spiritual Care and Spiritual Care Education. Within those identified regions, this position is responsible for the effective leadership and management of units of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). The position will work collaboratively with other CHRISTUS ACPE Certified Educators, identified representatives of CHRISTUS Health and regional Professional Advisory Groups, Mission leaders, Directors of Spiritual Care, CHRISTUS Spiritual Care Departments, and identified community partners in creatively designing units of CPE for CHRISTUS Spiritual Care staff, community clergy, seminary students, and laypersons. Assess regional needs for CPE (in the regions noted above).Designs ACPE units in English and Spanish.Plans, conducts, and evaluates CPE units according to current ACPE standards.Recruits, interviews, and makes acceptance decisions on prospective candidates for future ACPE units.Ensures that all contracted CPE units conducted through this position will function in accordance with the Mission and Core Values of CHRISTUS Health System and consistent with current Standards of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). This includes development of all contract and agreements, recruitment, processing, interviewing and accepting applicants, supervision of students, and the planning and development of the curriculum, student and program evaluation, and reporting of units to ACPE. Explicit and detailed attention will be given to ensuring that reporting relationships for units of CPE conducted through this position are consistent and congruent with ACPE Standards and effective for program performance. In regions where CPE is offered through this position, develops and maintains (in accordance with ACPE standards) CPE student handbook, CPE Policies and Procedures, and CPE student files.Maintains awareness of annual professional competencies for board certification according to the "Common Standards for Professional Chaplaincy," the particular requirements of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and the Association of Professional Chaplains, and implications for curriculum development.Explores development creative CPE units that utilize emerging technology that allow for student groups from different geographical areas.Serves as a regional resource for accreditation assistance and consultation regarding CPE as requested.In collaboration with other appropriate departments, serves as a regional resource in advancing outcomes-based performance approach for clinical pastoral education and spiritual care services.In areas of defined responsibilities is proficient in developing and administering budgets, participation in leadership training and initiatives, adherence to health system policies, and procedures and communication of policies to CPE students.Assists with development of spirituality and cultural competencies across CHRISTUS Health.Work collaboratively with ACPE Certified Educators, regional administrations, and ACPE accreditation representatives to ensure success of CPE units conducted through this position.Functions as an integral member of the CHRISTUS Health Certified Educators and contributes to the overall goals of the department and selected initiatives.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:M.Div. or Graduate Degree in TheologyUnderstanding of Catholic Healthcare MinistryBilingual, English/Spanish, requiredExtensive Cross-cultural experience, preferred At least 5 years experience as a fully certified ACPE Certified EducatorAt least 3 years experience as a chaplainHas functioned in a managerial roleACPE Certified EducatorAPC/NACC Board Certified Chaplain, preferredMaintains appropriate ecclesiastical endorsementWork Type: Full Time Internal Number: 1900 Create a Job Alert for Similar Jobs About CHRISTUS Health CHRISTUS HEALTH is an international Catholic, faith-based, not-for-profit health system comprised of almost more than 600 services and facilities, including more than 60 hospitals and long-term care facilities, 350 clinics and outpatient centers, and dozens of other health ministries and ventures.
