Details Posted: January 5, 2021 Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota Show Map Salary: Open Overview The Med/Surg unit at the University of Minnesota Medical Center is hiring for a Patient Care Supervisor! This is a 30 bed Med/Surg unit will provide care to adult patients with complex medical/surgical conditions which require close observation, monitoring and interventions, teaching and discharge planning.Some conditions include: Adult CF, Bariatric Surgery, GI surgery, thoracic surgery, urology, trauma and general medicine. Responsibilities/Job Description The PCS aids in promoting the practice of professional nursing as well as the development and utilization of resources. The PCS works cooperatively with the Nurse Manager, administration, physicians, staff and customers of the M Health Fairview system to provide services and consistently meet and exceed expectations of the people we serve. The PCS participates in aspects of budgeting, performance management and human resources matters, including recruitment and the administration of disciplinary measures. The PCS assists in implementing and supporting safety protocols and regulations ensuring compliance with federal, state and local requirements and meets all Joint Commission requirements. The PCS will model behaviors consistent with M Health Fairviews mission, vision and philosophy and effectively maintain the hospitals Standards of Care and Practice. Assists in managing the day-to-day and shift-to-shift operations Supervision of personnel in the department and projects as delegated. Hiring, discipline and performance evaluations Preference card assessment, review, and adjustment in conjunction with scheduling and team leads Acts as a role model Collaborates with Nursing and Provider leadership to implement and evaluate standards of practice. Supports our patient experience initiatives Assist with charge nurse development Demonstrates skills/abilities in provision of patient care and directs patient care Compass review and follow up with unit staff and other departments Qualifications Required: Bachelors Degree in Nursing. If Bachelors is not in nursing, then must have a Masters degree in nursing Three years nursing experience, at least one of which is in a formal or informal ( charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role.
