Details Posted: January 5, 2021 Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota Show Map Salary: Open Discipline: Operations Overview The primary role of the Senior Network Engineer is to design, configure, test and implement network hardware and technology integrations, both wired and wireless and supporting technology solutions to meet/exceed the business/network and IT RASS (Reliability, Availability, Scalability and Security) requirements. Evaluate user requirements and recommend possible network system designs based on cost benefit analysis and available tools. Operational duties include troubleshoot technical problems through collaboration with other team members and vendors. Implement processes and respond to requests for network infrastructure access, translate business requirements into network or process designs. Plans and recommends platforms (appliance/physical/virtual), systems management software and next generation network capabilities. Evaluates and recommends new products, maintains knowledge of emerging technologies from application to enterprise. Monitors network utilization/performance, ensures capacity planning is performed, and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement. Performs troubleshooting procedures and designs resolution scripts. May take on role of Subject Matter Expert (SME) for special enterprise wide assignments. Communicate upward within management technology value in business terms. Responsibilities/Job Description Evaluate user requirements and recommend possible network system designs. Participate in projects with an impact on network systems and complete required network administration and solutions for both the wired and wireless networks. Identify and maintain capacity plans for the network and collaborate on thresholds and courses of action when thresholds are encountered. Collaborate with Architecture on the development of standards, policies and deployment models. Create and/or maintain current_state of the network with accurate documentation in the form of diagrams, tables and descriptions. Mentor team members to follow documentation standards upon any/all changes. Provide end_state and/or target_state diagrams and documentation to reflect upcoming changes created by expansions, architecture changes and new designs. Conduct technical research on system network upgrades to assess compatibility, cost, and time required to implement. Participate in roadmap, strategy, and budget planning. Install and configure network hardware and integration services. Configure and maintain network system components and participate in network system designs. Install or oversee the installation of network hardware and software by vendors. Troubleshoot technical problems with established Local Area Network (LAN) and or Wide Area Network (WAN) systems through collaboration with other team members and vendors. Serves on a team on-call rotation schedule to address emergency production issues. Provide network system training and documentation to other technical staff. Document network issues and resolutions. Ensure vendors and technical staff follow enterprise technical guidelines and architecture standards. Coordinate with vendors to manage project deliverables and minimize adverse impacts on existing systems and business processes. Effectively utilizes monitoring and other network configuration tools to administer network performance reporting. Serves as mentor to other network engineers and technical analysts and assists with network design and incident escalations on the team. Responsible for leading the development and maintenance of roadmaps, maintenance scheduling, life cycle management, and capacity management for the F5 environment and related dependent technologies. Primarily responsible for the design, implementation, and support of solutions related to F5 projects and initiatives. Responsible for leading the day-to-day administration, planning, and problem-solving for the F5 and Citrix Netscaler environment. Own and escalate issues through resolution. Identify inefficiencies, gaps and issues, and drive the analysis and documentation of technical requirements for enterprise F5 architecture, guiding adoption of and adherence to standard operating procedures. Responsible for leading Disaster Recovery solutions as it relates to the F5 Environment by developing and maintaining a library of procedures for disaster recovery documentation. Responsible for performance tuning and providing a high availability F5 environment to eliminate single points of failure. Qualifications Required Education Associate (2 year) or equivalent work experience with focus in Computer/Network Engineering Experience 5+ years functional experience installing, configuring, monitoring and maintaining Cisco network solutions including ACI, ISE, core switching and routing technologies. 3+ years functional experience evaluating and designing network solutions for technology projects. Strong experience troubleshooting network system issues, understanding network topologies and thoughtful, logical analytical skills. 1+ years functional experience in implementing automation practices with scripting or automation tools (ie: Ansible, DNA Center) Demonstrated experience contributing and collaborating effectively as an informal leader in a high-functioning team. Effective organizational, analytical and independent problem solving skills. Successful experience coordinating and completing multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines. Strong presentation skills with experience addressing and interfacing with executives and technical staff. Experience working in the healthcare services industry or other highly regulated/compliance oriented environments. Experience with regulatory compliance issues. Experience with ITIL Framework. Experience with Service Now. Expert knowledge of F5 Global Server Load Balancing, LTM, Big IQ, SSL orchestration, Cloud Services, Web Application Firewall, Access Policy Manager, Scripting and other F5 technologies. Expert knowledge of Citrix Netscaler, XenApp/XenDesktop, MS Active Directory and OS technologies. License/Certification/Registration CCNA Preferred Education Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience with focus in Computer/Network Engineering. Experience 7+ years functional experience installing, configuring, monitoring and maintaining Cisco network solutions including ACI, ISE, core switching and routing technologies. 5+ years functional experience evaluating and designing network solutions for technology projects. 5+ years of F5 and Citrix technology experience 5+ years of experience working directly with F5 technologies. F5 certifications a plus Strong experience troubleshooting network system issues, understanding network topologies and thoughtful, logical analytical skills. 2+ years functional experience in implementing automation practices with scripting or automation tools (ie: Ansible, DNA Center) Demonstrated understanding of next generation related technologies and practices, including: Network Segmentation, SDWan, SDAccess Strong/diverse technical background in enterprise networking, network security, compute, storage, operating systems, database technologies, and desktop operating systems.
