Details Posted: December 23, 2020 Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota Show Map Salary: Open Discipline: Operations Overview The Project Manager, Design and Construction, identifies and meets the needs of the organization related to the planning, design and construction activities for the hospitals, clinics and other buildings for Fairview Health Services. Core Competencies: Able to simultaneously deliver multiple projects on time and within budget Problem solves space requests with user groups Work with multiple departments/contractors/clients to facilitate relocations to meet organizational needs Complete assigned projects from concept through design and implementation Knowledge of design and engineering principles, building codes, regulatory requirements, and construction coordination Manage capital projects to meet customer needs, budget and schedule Ensure customers and other stakeholders are well informed of space planning and project status Work to ensure continuous quality improvement in all department areas Ensure effective utilization of financial resources based on the most cost-effective use of resources Prepare and deliver communication within the department to promote positive employee relations Responsibilities/Job Description Project Manager, Design and Construction duties and responsibilities: 1. Develops capital budgets for proposed construction, renovation and move projects. Prepares proposals for interior finishes and construction work including sketches and cost estimates for labor, equipment, furniture and materials. 2. Meets with department heads and other representatives to determine the functional space program needs for proposed construction projects. 3. Directs architects and other consultants to accomplish designs and specifications within budgetary restrictions. Assists with phasing and means and methods of construction for complex construction projects. Ensures that final designs and specifications are within budgetary restrictions. 4. Prepares proposals and coordinates the contractor bidding process for construction, renovation and move projects. Reviews construction bids and prepares contract documents. 5. Oversees capital project construction activities by directing contractors, consultants and other service providers. 6. Ensures that the organizations goals for quality and schedule are met. Manages expenses related to assigned projects within budget. All variance to budget for assigned projects and acceptable explanations for variances must be submitted to the VP Construction for review and approval. 7. Ensures that all construction activities are conducted in a safe manner according to organization policies and in compliance with applicable codes and standards including Joint Commission and OSHA. 8. Maintains an up to date list of office and departmental space allocations for the hospitals, clinics and other buildings for assigned areas and in partnership with the Facilities department. Qualifications Required Proficient in the use of computer software including Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Microsoft Project. *Associates Degree in Interior Design or Building/Construction Management *Three to five (3-5) years experience in project management, space planning, or interior design within a large, complex/matrixes healthcare setting. Able to obtain Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) certification within 12 months. Preferred *Bachelors Degree in Interior Design, Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture *Five to ten (5-10) years experience in project management, space planning, or interior design within a large, complex/matrixes healthcare setting.
