Billings Clinic is a regional health care leader with experience in both tertiary care and rural health care environments. Billings Clinic manages 11 Critical Access Hospitals and has other partnerships across the region. These include joint ventures with LifePoint Health to own and operate Community Medical Center in Missoula, MT, and with Cody Regional Health to operate a cardiac catheterization lab in Cody, WY. Additionally, Billings Clinic is building a 97,000-square-foot destination ambulatory center in Bozeman which will include a multi-specialty physician group practice, urgent care and an outpatient surgical center.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Billings Clinic, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) will create the talent and human capital vision and strategy to successfully execute and achieve Billings Clinic’s strategic, operational, and financial objectives. Provides leadership in pursuing a responsive, yet equitable, labor relations policy.
Provides leadership in ongoing development of diversity & inclusion strategies, programs, and measurement systems.
Develops and administers systems of financial and non-financial incentives and rewards to attract and retain talent and to ensure employee satisfaction.

Assists clinical leaders in assuring that clinical staff have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patients served on their assigned unit.

Administers and provides direct oversight of assigned functions to ensure budget/financial accountability and outcomes in support of Billings Clinic’s strategy and operations.
Oversees benefits programs, including health insurance, pension, life and disability insurance, workers’ compensation, and others.
Demonstrates leadership in change management related to strategic and operational initiatives.
Provides strategic guidance and direction for organizational development to foster a well-trained, educated, and high-performing workplace.
Directs improvement activities in accordance with organizational standards for performance improvement.
Ensures that all accreditation and regulatory standards for HR and related chapters are met or exceeded.
Assures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to HR practices.
Ensures that HR records and data meet internal operational needs as well as applicable standards for confidentiality, accuracy, and completeness.
Directs HR activities to meet or exceed the needs of internal customers, with special attention to timeliness, accuracy, responsiveness, and completeness.
Assures that HR department members consistently meet customer satisfaction standards, proactively incorporates these standards into their day-to-day activities, and develops outcome measures and tracking for these standards.
Ensures that employee programs, compensation, benefits, fair process procedures, managerial treatment, opportunities for growth and promotion, and diversity are maximized.

The CHRO will possess the following:
Extensive senior-level executive experience in human resources and organizational development within a large, complex, multi-site organization. Experience in the health care industry is a plus but not required. Must share a passion for working in a very mission-oriented organization that has a major impact on the community.
An experienced generalist who is well-versed on the management of large complex organizations and very conversant on contemporary human resources leadership issues.
Successful track record in developing cultures, engaging work forces, and creating world class human resource functions.
Excellent interpersonal skills to advise, counsel and influence; a strong mentor/coach who has the ability to develop an outstanding HR team to best serve the organization.
Excellent team player and builder of teams along with serving as advisor to the executive team leaders.
Highly collaborative and ability to work cross-functionally with all areas of the business to foster cooperation and partnership to ensure achievement of key business metrics.
