You will help grow our teams and develop our organizational culture, taking ownership of all HR matters across the hospital: employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organizational development, employee relations, safety, training and development.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development and 5 years Human Resources experience
Previous Supervisory / Management experience required; demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resource Staff members
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with company Board of Directors
Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction.
Strong Computer Skills in a Microsoft Window environment, including experience with Excel, database management and record keeping
Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organizational development, employee relations, safety, training and preventative labor relations preferred.
Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs
Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
Experience in a healthcare environment
PHR / SPHR certification preferred
Partners with HR team members and management to ensure recruitment and retention of 'top notch' employees
Provides direct supervision to the Human Resources Staff
Directs administration of performance evaluations and salary increases
Directs employment and recruiting process for all areas except physician / provider recruitment. Ensures that positions are filled, and paperwork is completed accurately in a timely manner. Ensures equal employment opportunity in all aspects of employment.
Directs, develops and monitors employee benefit programs to ensure non-discrimination and competitiveness in the industry. Ensures prompt, accurate billing and reporting is completed for all benefit programs.
Ensures and enhances employee communication through policies, employee activities, in-service classes and notices, etc.
Directs the Employee Recognition Program including Service Award Program, Hospital Week, and other employee related activities
Develops, reviews, and updates Human Resources Policies and Procedures Manual, Employee Handbook, and employee job descriptions
Facilitates annual employee perception surveys to identify opportunities for improvement
Aids management and employees regarding Human Resources issues, problems and concerns. Ensure disciplinary actions are fair, consistent, non-discriminatory, and appropriately documented. Provide appropriate documentation for unemployment cases, Worker's Compensation, EEOC cases, and litigation as needed.
Develops and conducts Human Resources in-services to management and staff as needed. Participates in General Orientation as requested.
Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures related to compliance, general and patient safety, infection control, ethical conduct, and Human Resources policies and procedures.
Always ensures strict confidentiality of patient and NRH information
Assumes responsibility for attending all required in-service education classes including safety update program
Works cooperatively with all staff
Utilizes excellent customer service skills
Performs additional duties as assigned
Working Conditions and Environment:
Office setting. Interaction with the public and employees is required. Northern Regional Hospital is a tobacco free campus. In the event of inclement weather, this position is classified as non-essential. Non-essential personnel are not required to be at work; however, the absence will be recorded as an occurrence unless the employee has been instructed by his / her manager not to report.
Ability to evaluate reports, program and other data against both judgmental and verifiable criteria. Verbal ability is required to express ideas and view and to present analyzed data and prepared reports effectively. Additionally, verbal ability requires to conduct various Human Resource related in-services and general orientation sessions as necessary.
