JOB DESCRIPTION: Clinic Nurse - Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Vascular Surgery
WORK SCHEDULE: Days
WORK TYPE: Full Time
Provides direct nursing care including treatments, medication and diagnostic studies. Assists physicians and provides other support services dictated by patient needs. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range of their assigned nursing unit.
Works under the general direction of the Medical Director and the Manager of Vascular Services. Works directly with the manager to maintain work assignments, work schedules and goals for continuing office improvement.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction to ensure timely patient flow consistent with the demands and volumne of patients in the vascular surgery clinic in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE for LPN
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current L.P.N. licensure or eligible for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania required. Temporary licensure awaiting state boards in the state of Pennsylvania if G.P.N. is accepted.
Must be BLS certified.
Must be qualified to pass medications.
Education and/or Experience for Certified Medical Assistant:
Graduate of an accredited two-year program requited. Association of Medical Assistants Certification required.
Certification of Basic Life Support (CPR) required within 3 months of hire.
Minimum of one year in a primary care setting preferred.
***Note: Will consider a Certified Medical Assistant with successful completion of a training Program with required Certification at the appropriate compensation rate based on relevant experience.***
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Must be able to assist patients with ambulation and moving from/to a wheelchair or exam bed. Must be able to push equipment, lift supplies and equipment and push patients in wheel chairs and stretchers.
