Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) seeks a Vice President of Human Resources. Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the senior management team, this Vice President will have broad responsibilities managing Human Resources such as; organizational development, compensation and benefits, employee/labor relations, employment services, as well as education.
As a member of the BHS Senior Management Team, this position develops the strategic human resources plan and recommends human resource policy that supports the Berkshire Health System mission. The position provides HR leadership supporting all areas of Berkshire Health Systems in developing and rewarding their employees and developing and implementing HR systems that attract, retain, develop, motivate and reward a productive, customer-focused workforce.
The Vice President consults and collaborates with the President and Chief Executive Officer of BHS, the Chief Operating Officer of BMC, Senior Leadership Team and frontline management across the full spectrum of HR issues. This individual builds, develops and leads the HR team in support of the HR and organization’s missions and objectives. The Vice President ensures that the HR team is capable of meeting the highest standards of customer service and leverages personal knowledge of HR content and best practices to assure thorough alignment of HR and organizational strategy. Between the oversight of key departments, this individual will manage a staff of approximately 30 FTEs and a budget of about $2 million.
The Ideal Candidate:
The Vice President of Human Resources will be a proactive and enthusiastic leader who can inspire others. This strategic executive will possess a minimum of ten years of progressive human resources leadership experience with demonstrated management capability and broad knowledge of HR services needed within a sizable, complex organization. Ideally, this individual is currently a Vice President of Human Resources or a strong number two in HR. As well as being an approachable leader with superb communications skills, he/she will possess:
- A Master’s degree in human resources, business administration or a related subject, or a Bachelor’s degree with requisite experience.
- Strong negotiations and labor relations skills acquired while working in a union environment.
- The ability to tell the human resources story and work with the team to own the HR mission and utilize the HR team to meet the mission of the organization.
- The capacity to build consensus as well as push back in an appropriate and respectful way to challenge the status quo.
- A strong customer service orientation.
